HENDZEL + HUNT DO INDIA

Hendzel + Hunt, a creative bespoke furniture duo, were recently invited to take part in the UnBox festival in New Delhi, India. The UnBox festival aims to “enable a collective creative expression of India’s most innovative leaders of development, music, performing arts, and design.” They do this through a series of workshops and speakers over the course of the four day festival. The challenge for Hendzel + Hunt? Making furniture (duh) from found and locally sourced materials. The results? A 12 person table and 12 “crazy stools”.

Fornasetti Furniture

We’ve long been fans of The Fornasetti Atelier in Milan – an outpost of careful and accomplished craft production. Their line of fantastic plates, wall hangings and ceramics are already in store.

The majority of the furniture and objects produced in the Atelier are true re-editions of the original designs created by Piero Fornasetti. Objects referred to as ‘Re-inventions’, are designs created by Barnaba Fornasetti using the decorative elements and imagery found in the immense Fornasetti archive and are evolutions of the exclusive production of his father. And as Autumn rolls on we’ll be getting some unique furniture pieces, from side tables to umbrella stands…the wit and classic design stays true.

DL & Co

DL&Co candle 2

DL & Co. was founded by Douglas Little with the sole purpose of bringing a more vibrant way of living into this world. His inspiration? Victorian surrealism, obscure botanica and ancient charm. Although certainly splendid, the pieces manage to remain subtle and beautifully crafted down to the last detail.

In the creation of his perfumes and candles, Douglas uses only rare and natural essential oils. Combined with a patented blend of soy, maple, and palm waxes, DL & Co. candles are formulated to burn evenly in order to maximise the dispersal of their perfume.

DL&Co candle

The Shop at Bluebird has chosen key items from the collections of unusual and highly coveted candles and perfumes; a selection of which are in-store now.

The Signature Collection: rare botanic specimens are the source of inspiration for this beautiful collection. The candles are then hand wrapped in pleated tissue and packaged in DL & Co.’s signature black silk hat box with satin ribbon.

Art Nouveau Collection: influenced by the English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley, this collection uses exquisite perfumes inspired by Aubrey’s imaginative, sensitive and hedonistic work during the French Art Nouveau movement.

Memento Mori Collection: a Latin phrase meaning ‘remember that you are mortal,’ widely synonymous with the term ‘carpe diem’ or ‘seize the day’. These icons are visual reminders that life on earth is fleeting and one should live every day to its fullest potential.

Absolute Collection: these candles are poured into an etched scallop vessel and nestled in a pressed paper box with a pearl finish and cream silk ribbon.

The pair founded the brand in 2005 and specializing in antique and vintage textiles, bespoke upholstery and chic mid century design.

“Great emphasis is placed on quality as well as on design” says Janie “Our aim is to create pieces that are true ‘one offs’ and we are constantly looking for rare furniture shapes as well as for design classics, be they a 19th century chesterfield sofa, a shell shaped boudoir chair from the 1930s or a Murano glass cocktail cabinet from 1940s Italy” adds Sara.
